GOLDEN WORDS OF SHRI SAI BABA

1. Mukti (release from the cycle of birth and death) is true joy or happiness; coursing through births and deaths is unhappiness. All the joys and sorrows of Samsara are unreal.
2. One must fulfill one's vow. Else he to bear the punishment later on.
3. Poverty is better than kingship, far better than lordship. The lord is always the brother (befriender) of the poor.
4. Purification of mind is absolutely necessary. Without it, all our spiritual endeavours are nothing but a useless show and pomp.
5. Rama (the God of Hindus) and Rahim (the God of Mohammedans) are one and the same, there is not the slightest difference between them; and then why should their devotees fall out and quarrel among themselves. You ignorant folk, children, join hands and bring both the communities       together, act sanely and thus you will gain your objects of national unity. It is no good to dispute and argue. So don't argue, don't emulate others. Always consider your welfare and interest. The Lord will protect you.
6. Relying on your own cleverness, you missed your way. A guide is always necessary to show us the right path in small or great matters.
7. Restrains lust; wholly in respect of other's wives and partly in respect of your own wife.
8. The knowledge of the Self is subtle and mystic, but no one could by his own individual effort ever hope to attain it. So, the help of another person-teacher, who has himself got self-realization, is absolutely necessary.
9. The teachings of a Guru are of  no use to man who is full of egoism and who always thinks about the sense objects.
10. The lord (God) is the protector of all.
11. This joy and sorrow is due to opinion, which is a mere illusion and is ruinous.
12. The world is funny. All are my subjects. I look upon all with equal vision. But some true thieves. What can I do for them? People at the death's door plot against the life of others. These offend and hurt me much.
